Cedar Rapids Kennedy romps Davenport West, 44-0

 

The Cougars ran roughshod over the previously-unbeaten Falcons, scoring on their first four possessions of the game and amassing 315 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, The Gazette's K.J. Pilcher writes.

Alex Mota’s 80-yard TD run sends Marion past Decorah

 

The final homecoming game for Marion at the venerable Thomas Park was one to be remembered, writes Gazette correspondent Mike Condon.

Iowa City Liberty spreads the ball around, hands Fort Madison first loss

 

Graham Beckman completed 10 of 17 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns (all to different targets), Gazette correspondent Ryan Pleggenkuhle writes.

West Branch blanks Regina for its first win in the series since 2005

 

Jack McCullough’s blocked punt for a safety got things started for the unbeaten Bears in a 23-0 triumph, The Gazette's Jeff Linder writes.

Cedar Rapids Xavier ends first half with a flurry and pulls away from Clear Creek Amana

 

The 4A No. 3 Saints scored 14 points quickly going into halftime to take a 28-0 lead and improved to 7-0 with a shutout win, writes Gazette correspondent Culley Kline.

Final: Montezuma 64, Baxter 62, via a field goal in the final seconds. It's 8-Player No. 9 Baxter's first loss of the season.

The Warriors improve to 4-3 and hand the Cardinals their first loss. Cedar Rapids Washington is setting itself up nicely for a second-place district finish.

Second straight impressive win over an Eastern Iowa team for the Rams (6-1), this time via shutout. Prairie is now 5-2 with both losses decisvely to top-four teams.

Upset alert!

 

Denver beat 1A No. 5 Dike-New Hartford, 30-20. The Wolverines were coming off a big win over then-No. 5 Aplington-Parkersburg. Denver was ranked earlier this season until a loss to Sumner-Fredericksburg.

 

Both teams are now 5-2.

Top-ranked Harlan faces unbeaten, No. 3 Adel ADM in 3A. Two teams tied for the No. 4 spot in 4A meet in Carlisle and Indianola. And fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie visits No. 4 Southeast Polk in a 5A game.
