The Hawkeyes (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) — 17.5-point underdogs — were vastly outmatched in their 35-7 loss to No. 3 Ohio State (5-0, 2-0).
Ohio State finished the game with a 412-226 advantage in yardage as the Buckeyes looked dominant in almost every facet in the second half. It snapped Iowa’s streak of 32 consecutive games of allowing fewer than 400 total yards.
After a fairly competitive first half — Iowa’s halftime deficit was only 7-0 — Ohio State broke away with a pair of scoring drives early in the third quarter and did not look back.
Touchdown Iowa: Kaleb Johnson finds the end zone
Kaleb Johnson gets Iowa on the board with a 28-yard touchdown run.
That five-play, 75-yard drive came with backup Brendan Sullivan at quarterback. Sullivan had a 30-yard run and also threw a 12-yard pass to Luke Lachey.

Luke Lachey had battled for a third-and-8 conversion, Johnson had his best run of the day for 28 yards and Lachey also had a 13-yard catch to move to the OSU 24. But the Hawkeyes are kept off the board with their second turnover of the half.

Halftime: Ohio State 7, Iowa 0
The Buckeyes are averaging 6.2 yards per play to Iowa's 3.
The Hawkeyes have stayed close with two takeaways plus a turnover on downs.
"That's really been the story of the first half," OSU Coach Ryan Day told CBS.
Cade McNamara was 11-for-16 passing for 72 yards. OSU's Will Howard completed 13 of 17 for 89 yards, a TD and an INT.
Kaleb Johnson has 19 yards on eight carries for Iowa. Quinshon Judkins leads the Buckyes with 51 rushing yards on six attempts.
Another takeaway for Iowa's defense
There's the stop for the Hawkeye defense. Sebastian Castro picked off Will Howard on second-and-8 to keep this a one-score game.
Iowa has it at its 38 with two timeouts.

Iowa recovers an OSU fumble
Big turn of events for the Hawkeyes. Ohio State was moving with Quinshon Judkins breaking a tackle for a 21-yard gain, then star receiver Jeremiah Smith speeding to a pick-up of 23 yards. But Smith had the ball punched out by Jay Higgins — who missed a rare tackle on Judkins the play before.
Higgins recovered at the Iowa 28. Redemption for Iowa's All-America linebacker.
Ohio State 7, Iowa 0 (6:34 2nd)
Iowa punts on fourth-and-1
The Hawkeyes snapped the ball to the upback in punt formation on fourth-and-1 but Kirk Ferentz had called timeout before the snap.
Rhys Dakin ended up punting it out of bounds and Ohio State will take over at its 28. Just a 22-yard punt.
Cade McNamara's 10-yard completion to Jarriett Buie was ruled short of the line to gain, then moved up after review but still a half-yard short.
An all-around bad sequence for Iowa.
Ohio State 7, Iowa 0 (7:25 2nd)
Ohio State turns it over on downs
Iowa stopped Ohio State's fourth-and-2 attempt with Yahya Black and Jay Higgins taking down Will Howard on a designed run.

Iowa misses field goal
Iowa's drive stalled at the OSU 33 when Kaleb Johnson slipped on a third-and-4 completion. Drew Stevens' 51-yard field goal attempt was just wide left.
It was a 10-play, 42-yard drive for the Hawkeyes with nothing to show for it. An opportunity you probably can't miss in Columbus.

Iowa picked up a first down on Cade McNamara's 11-yard pass to Reece Vander Zee, but couldn't convert on third-and-9. McNamara did well to scramble and find an open Kaden Wetjen, but a diving Wetjen couldn't haul in the underthrown pass.
