Clear Creek Amana holds on, will play for the 4A state title
Top-ranked CCA came out a-blazing to start the second half, built an 11-point lead, then hung on for dear life at the end. The Clippers held off No. 5 North Polk, 50-48, in a 4A semifinal Thursday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

No. 5 North Polk (23-3) rallied from an 11-point third-quarter deficit to pull within one with 1:02 remaining, but top-ranked Clear Creek Amana (25-0) survived in a Class 4A semifinal. The Comets missed a possible go-ahead layup on their penultimate possession and the Clippers secured a missed free throw with 1.8 seconds remaining to advance to their first state championship game.
Ava Locklear had 17 points and seven rebounds for CCA, Averie Lower 16 and seven. Lower's breakaway layup with 3.5 seconds to go ended up being the winning margin.
Campbell Schulz and Abby Tuttle both scored 15 points for North Polk.
Solon makes its first girls’ state basketball championship game since 1998
Third-ranked Solon held No. 2 DMC to seven field goals (in 36 attempts), forced the Lions into 26 turnovers, and rolled to a Class 3A semifinal win, 49-25, at the girls’ state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

Mount Vernon's run ends in the state semifinals
Top-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central held No. 4 Mount Vernon to a season-low scoring output and won Thursday’s Class 3A semifinal, 45-37.
