Second-ranked Newell-Fonda (23-2) stole the ball 24 times and handled No. 7 Calamus-Wheatland (20-5) in a Class 1A quarterfinal. Kierra Jungers scored a game-high 15 points. Kinzee Hinders had 14 and seven boards. Both had four steals.
North Linn races past Montezuma in a 1A quarterfinal
The top-ranked Lynx spun No. 9 Montezuma around in the first half and coasted to a 68-38 Class 1A quarterfinal victory at the girls’ state basketball tournament Wednesday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
Final: Council Bluffs St. Albert 53, Algona Garrigan 42
Avah Underwood totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds as No. 4 St. Albert (23-1) knocked off fifth-ranked, two-time defending state champion Garrigan (23-2).

Top-ranked North Linn (24-1) raced to a 35-6 halftime in a Class 1A quarterfinal victory over No. 9 Montezuma (20-5). Allie Haughenbury scored 10 points in the first half and finished with 12. Macy Boge scored a game-high 20 and Kamryn Kurt added 18 with six assists. The Lynx forced 15 turnovers in the first half.

Third-ranked Westwood gave up the first 10 points, but climbed out of a 14-3 hole to advance to the Class 2A semifinals in its first girls' state basketball appearance since 2001. Addy Johnson made two free throws with 34 seconds left to give the Rebels (22-0) their first lead of the game. Johnson finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Central Lyon (20-4) was held to seven points in the second half. Desta Hoogendoorn had 11 points and nine rebounds before fouling out.
