    North Linn races past Montezuma in a 1A quarterfinal

    The top-ranked Lynx spun No. 9 Montezuma around in the first half and coasted to a 68-38 Class 1A quarterfinal victory at the girls’ state basketball tournament Wednesday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.

    Third-ranked Westwood gave up the first 10 points, but climbed out of a 14-3 hole to advance to the Class 2A semifinals in its first girls' state basketball appearance since 2001. Addy Johnson made two free throws with 34 seconds left to give the Rebels (22-0) their first lead of the game. Johnson finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

    Central Lyon (20-4) was held to seven points in the second half. Desta Hoogendoorn had 11 points and nine rebounds before fouling out.
