    After tailing 34-29 at halftime, the second-ranked Go-Hawks (24-0) stymied a Class 4A quarterfinal upset bid from Sioux Center (17-7), last year's Class 3A state champion.

    Katelyn Eggena scored a game-high 21 points for Waverly-Shell Rock. Margo Schuiteman led Sioux Center with 19; Makailyn Vander Waal had 12 and 18 boards.

    No. 5 North Polk (23-2) knocked off fourth-ranked, reigning champion Dallas Center-Grimes (20-4) in a quarterfinal rematch of last year's Class 4A state championship.

    Becca Aagard and Abby Tuttle both scored 13 points for the Comets. Vanessa Bickford led DCG with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.

    North Polk outscored DCG 24-13 in the second half.

    Ava Locklear nearly tallied a triple-double with 14 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists (plus three blocks and five steals) as top-ranked Clear Creek Amana (24-0) picked up its first win at the girls' state basketball tournament in school history in the first Class 4A quarterfinal game of the day.

    Averie Lower led the Clippers with 17 points. Bliss Beck had 16, Sam Schrage 12. CCA shot 54.7 percent.

    Mia Kautman scored 11 points for Gilbert (15-10).
