Marshall Meeder ‘never in a million years’ could foresee game-winning moment
Marshall Meeder thought he was “done playing football.” A few months later, the Iowa kicker experienced the biggest moment of his college football career.

Iowa escapes Nebraska with late INT, game-winning Marshall Meeder field goal
Iowa again won in the final seconds of a low-scoring, grind-it-out game, this time edging border-state rival Nebraska 13-10 on Friday. Marshall Meeder, the backup kicker called upon after starter Drew Stevens’ adverse first half, hit a 38-yard field goal as time expired to win the game.
Final: Iowa 13, Nebraska 10
Marshall Meeder's 38-yard field goal as time expired gave Iowa a 13-10 victory over Nebraska.
That was Meeder's first field-goal attempt all season. It had been a rough day for Drew Stevens, with two field goals blocked and a pair of field goals that went out of bounds. So the Hawkeyes turned to Meeder and he delivered after Ethan Hurkett's clutch interception.
Leshon Williams' 22-yard run after the pick set up the kick.
The Hawkeyes are now 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten going into next week's conference championship game against Saturday's Ohio State-Michigan winner.
The Huskers finish 5-7 overall and 3-6 in the Big Ten, missing out on bowl eligibility.

Nebraska just had to use its last timeout with the play clock winding down with 23 seconds left. A lot less flexibility to set up a winning field goal now. It's second-and-7 at the Nebraska 48.
Hill picked off
Iowa tried to go long on third-and-11 and Deacon Hill's pass was intercepted by Tommi Hill at midfield. But the Huskers were flagged for holding on the return and start at their 45, tied at 10 with 31 seconds left.

Iowa backed up on its goal line
Chubba Purdy scrambled on third-and-11 and the ball just popped out of his hands. Nebraska ended up picking up 4 yards on the play by recovering the fumble, sort of half-heartedly brought the field goal team out, called timeout and punted from the Iowa 42. That looks like a good decision after it was downed at the 1.
