Lewis Central ends Xavier’s repeat hopes
Down 11-5 in Game 5, sixth-ranked Lewis Central battled all the way back and toppled No. 3 Cedar Rapids Xavier in a 2-hour, 6-minute Class 4A quarterfinal marathon (25-21, 13-25, 25-19, 22-25, 17-15) at the state volleyball tournament Monday night at Xtream Arena.

North Scott warms up for 4-set win over ADM
It took her a little while to get going, but once Abbie Hayes got her powerful right arm cranked up the North Scott volleyball team came to life. Hayes caught fire in the final three games of Monday’s Class 4A state quarterfinal match at Xtream Arena, leading North Scott to a 19-25, 25-19, 25-9, 25-13 victory over Adel ADM.
Lewis Central wins Game 3, 25-19.

Potent but erratic for much of the match, second-rated Indianola cleaned things up late and escaped the No. 7 Wolves in a five-set Class 4A quarterfinal at the state volleyball tournament Monday night at Xtream Arena.

The Clippers are two wins away from completing the business trip they have been on all season. The state's top-ranked Class 4A team made quick work of No. 10 Norwalk, 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 in a state tournament quarterfinal match Monday at Xtream Arena.

Dowling tops Valley in a battle of West Des Moines
Playing in a state tournament always is a challenge. Playing another school in your town makes it a little tougher. That was the case for top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling in a four-set win over West Des Moines Valley in a Class 5A state volleyball quarterfinal match.
Johnston leads Set 2, 7-5, but just had senior hitter Maeve Rehmann get helped off the court after turning an ankle.
