Cedar Rapids Prairie starts fast, hangs on to beat Iowa City Liberty
Cedar Rapids bolted to a 21-0 lead, only to see turnovers and penalties take hold, especially in the second half. In the end, Prairie was able to come away with a 38-30 victory over Iowa City Liberty.

No. 8 Ankeny pulls away from Iowa City West in a key battle of 2-2 teams
Propelled by running-back duo, Daniel Larmie and Caden Henkes, No. 8 Ankeny was the team to boost its playoff hopes, knocking off Iowa City West, 48-21.

West Delaware on a roll with 3 straight wins
Brent Yonkovic contributed scores on the first three drives and Sawyer Krogmann added a defensive touchdown, while extended weather delays led to a shortened 28-0 West Delaware victory over Maquoketa at Brown Field. The Hawks have won three straight games, moving to 3-2 this season.

Cedar Rapids Washington’s speed, big plays translate to a 21-13 win over Jefferson
Explosive if not consistent offensively, Cedar Rapids Washington made enough big plays and toppled previously unbeaten Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 21-13, in an intracity football battle Friday night at Kingston Stadium.

With continued storms that caused an extended delay during halftime, coaches and West Delaware AD Matt Weis agreed to call the game. West Delaware wins its third straight game, improving to 3-2. Brent Yonkovic scored two rushing TDs and connected with Conrad Smith on a 35-yard TD pass. Sawyer Krogmann added a 20-yard fumble return for a TD.

I've got Kennedy with 223 yards rushing and two guys over the 100-yard mark (Trevor Scott with 106, Jacob Doyle with 104).

Nice opening 9-play, 59-yard drive to begin the second half for West. Jack Wallace punches it in from a yard out.

WEST DELAWARE 28, MAQUOKETA 0, HALFTIME
Just getting to updates here at Brown Field in Manchester. The first half has been all Hawks. West Delaware scored on three straight series, including TD runs of 1 and 3 from Brent Yonkovic and a 35-yard scoring strike to Conrad Smith from Yonkovic. Sawyer Krogmann added a 68-yard fumble return for a TD.

Kennedy takes second-half kickoff and drives 58 yards for a TD: a Jacob Doyle 2-yard run. All 58 yards via the rush, on nine of them. City High cannot stop the Cougars, who are dominating up front ... by a lot

Cedar Rapids Kennedy has a 26-13 lead on Iowa City High as we are at halftime here at Bates Field in Iowa City.
The Cougars have dominated offensive time of possession, roughly 17:30 to City High's 6:30. Kennedy has run 41 plays to City High's 20.
Cyrus Courtney caught a 9-yard TD pass from Vinny Gianforte to cap a 13-play drive on Kennedy's first possession. Dylan Augustine's extra point was good.
City High countered with a lightning-strike 62-yard TD pass from Bobby Bacon to Connor Cross, a slant pass that went the distance. Will Perrill's extra point made it 7-all late in the first.
Trevor Scott capped a Kennedy drive with a 18-yard TD run early in the second quarter. An effective directional kickoff pinned City High back at its 1 on the ensuing possession, and Bacon was sacked in the end zone for a safety.
Kennedy then took the free kick and scored: a 7-yard TD pass from Gianforte to Calvin White. The extra point made it a 23-7 Cougars lead with 4:26 left in the half.
Again, City High struck lightning fast. Bacon hit Jeremiah Madlock for 15 yards and then over the top for 42 to the Kennedy 16. Miles Parlet took it to end zone on a carry on the next play. The two-point conversion failed.
Augustine kicked a 33-yard field goal with 59 seconds left in the second. Kennedy outgained City High, 243-160.

Vinny Gianforte with 9-yard touchdown pass to Cyrus Courtney for the Cougars. Essentially a jump-ball pass that Courtney went and got. He's great at that.
Kennedy later got to midfield, but a third-and-1 sack is followed by a short punt. City High then got its initial first down, and it was a 62-yard slant pass for TD from Bobby Bacon to Connor Cross to tie it with 1:12 left in the quarter.
