Kirk Ferentz’s 200th win was vintage Coach Pragmatic
The Kirk-O-Meter hit 200 Saturday, in much the same way it reached many of his first through 199th college football wins as a head coach.

For Iowa State, early mistakes overshadow late rally
The litany of miscues that have doomed Iowa State to defeat in six of its last seven Cy-Hawk series games against Iowa once again served as the backdrop in the Cyclones’ 20-13 loss to the Hawkeyes Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium.

A look at the turning point, numbers and notes from the Hawkeyes' 20-13 win.
Kirk Ferentz earns 200th win with Iowa-esque victory over Iowa State
As has been the case in many of Kirk Ferentz’s 199 other wins, Iowa’s defense and special teams made up for lesser production on the offensive side of the ball in a 20-13 win over Iowa State.
Final: Iowa 20, Iowa State 13
Kirk Ferentz gets his 200th career win as Iowa (2-0) takes back the Cy-Hawk Trophy from Iowa State (1-1).
The Hawkeyes (-4) covered the spread.
ISU turns it over on downs
Ethan Hurkett got to Cartevious Norton in the backfield immediately on fourth-and-1 for a 2-yard loss.
That will do it.

Touchdown Iowa State: It's not over yet
Jayden Higgins pulled down a 16-yard touchdown pass from Rocco Becht on fourth-and-9.
But Iowa State's clock management on a 14-play, 80-yard drive that took 6:59 was subpar. The Cyclone fans made their feelings about the pace of that possession known and even the broadcast team was imploring ISU to move faster.
Still, the Cyclones converted, and they're still in this game.

First quarter yards per play: 10.8
Second quarter yards per play: 1.9

Not a flawless half for the offense after the FG and TD drives. Castro's pick-6 gives Iowa plenty of breathing room in the second half, though.
